Workshops for Teachers

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Center for Gifted Education is an instructional, research and service center-- one of only about 20 such comprehensive centers in the nation and the only one of its scope in the State of Louisiana. Directed by a member of the College of Education faculty, the Center serves as a coordinating agency for UL Lafayette's extensive activities in the education of gifted and creative students: professional development opportunities for teachers (including the state's only master's degree program in Education of the Gifted and special workshops for teachers of gifted children); summer enrichment programs for academically, creatively, and artistically talented pre-college students; program and staff development assistance for area school districts; and consultation services for parents. A comprehensive circulating library of reference and curriculum materials in the areas of gifted education and creativity offers valuable resources for parents, teachers, researchers, and students. A major effort of the Center is the coordination and facilitation of research on the identification and development of high potential.
