The University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Center for Gifted Education
is an instructional, research, and service center
-- one of only about 20 such comprehensive centers focusing
on the needs of high ability/gifted learners in the nation
and the only one of its scope in the State of Louisiana.

The work of the center is guided by the

Center for Gifted Education Steering Committee.

This committee serves as a support system
and helps to guide how to enhance services
and create partnerships for the benefit of
the University, College of Education, and community.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Center for Gifted Education mission is to
a) support the needs of gifted and talented students and those with gifted
and talented potential through faciltating advocacy efforts,
b) provide research-based information about the needs of gifted
and talented students with all stakeholders, and
c) build relationships with educators as well as the general public.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Academic Enrichment Program (AEP)

2014

 

AEP: Grades Pre-K & K:

Two session, one-week each, Monday-Thursday:

June 2-5 & June 9-12

Morning & Afternoon options will be available.

Location: Early Childhood Lab (behind Picard Center), Off Devalcourt St.

Classes and time periods TBA.

 

Summer Scholars Residential Program: 7th, 8th, & 9th Grades:

Two sessions, one-week each, Sunday-Friday:

June 15-20 & June 22-27

Location: TBA (Lafayette area)

Classes and time periods TBA.

 

AEP: Grades 1-6:

These classes will be held on a series of Saturdays in the Fall, dates to be arranged.

6 Saturdays in Fall

$50 Screening Fee required with form.

ASSESSMENTS (Testing) for AEP & Summer Scholars:

Friday & Saturdays morning in March and early April

 

Scheduling an assessment can occur after the Application and testing fee have been sent to the Center for Gifted Education.  See Application for details.

 

Grades Pre-K to 3rd can schedule assessments here in the Center for Gifted Education.

Grades 4th – 9th can submit their school’s test scores.
